Recently I photographed a local restaurant’s event space. They market with a combination of their own Smartphone images and some professionally taken images. I subscribe to the ‘less is more’ philosophy particularly when a small business that has traditionally used DIY (do-it-yourself) images is ready to invest in professional photography.
Below are DIY images.
In this case, the restaurant wanted a high quality image to their DIY/PRO mix of images to promote and book more events. The room in this image is the smaller of two available, accommodating up to 35 guests for any variety of professional or personal occasions. I was immediately on board with their vision. Below is the PRO shot I delivered.
Marketing budgets can be tight or non-existent in the hospitality business, which dictates the priority of marketing projects, specifically photography. Photographing a restaurant interior and delivering fewer images, but of high quality, provides a promotional tool, which in turn generates interest in coming to see the space and book new events. The idea of “I can see myself and my event here.”
Not only can an image like this be used for marketing of their event space, it can be used across the web, print and social media. I provide my clients multi-use formats that are ready to use upon delivery and are photographed with a client’s end-use in mind. A single image, or a modest collection of 2-3 images conveys a stronger message than 20 DIY photographs of low quality.
Today a business has 1-2 seconds to satisfy a need online, that’s all! If a potential client is on your website or social page and the question, “Can you help me solve problem X?”, is not answered, they will most likely not return. Attracting more business with quality photography, even on a budget, has a solid ROI value when marketed to the full extent.
